Heritage

The Sherlock Holmes Pub in West Edmonton Mall’s Bourbon Street opened in 1985. The relaxed British pub atmosphere soon established “Sherlock’s” as one of Edmonton’s most popular gathering establishments, boasting an ‘authentic taste of the good old times’.  As one of Edmonton’s first stand -up bars, The Sherlock Holmes Pubs also offered several varieties of imported and domestic beer, fine pub fare, and nightly, interactive entertainment.

The Rice Howard Way location in downtown Edmonton opened in the summer of 1987; quickly becoming a popular lunch and after work stop for the business sector. At night, the downtown Sherlock’s is still the place to be for sports enthusiasts, visiting tourists and professional entertainers!

The newest Sherlock Holmes location opened in October of 2013 on the University of Alberta campus. The campus location caters to staff and students and is a proud partner of U of A Athletics.

The Rose & Crown Pub was added to the Sherlock’s Group in 2003, located kitty corner to the new Oilers home will make it the perfect location for a pre or post-game pint! The Rose & Crown Pub caters to the area’s business sector and hotel patrons.

In 2008 the company purchased a quaint little neighbourhood pub in the Bonnie Doon area and named it Devaney’s Irish Pub. With the recent sale of the Company, this location is now known as Duggan’s Boundary Irish Pub, named after J.J. Duggan, a local pioneer in the city of Strathcona.  The warm woods, enticing menu and friendly staff, have quickly established Duggan’s as a popular meeting place.

The company was sold in early 2013 to a group of local businessmen who have personally undertaken the goal of upholding the strong brands and standards of the group.

All the new owners live in and around the City of Edmonton and are committed to the ongoing improvement of  the current locations while looking for new opportunities for expansion.

Since their purchase in March of 2013, each location has had extensive upgrades, new beer coolers, draught systems and towers to name a few.

For over 30 years, The Sherlock Holmes Hospitality Group have worked hard to become a cornerstone in the community where patrons know they will be served professionally and in a friendly, comfortable manner. The pubs are happy to give back to the community by sponsoring many local charity groups, arts organizations and amateur sports teams.
